WHAT YOU WILL DO

You will work on our modern and evolving technology stack in a cross-functional team with other highly skilled team members. You will thoughtfully and incrementally create new features and products that delight our customers and help drive our business towards an ambitious vision.
This is a role that will be challenging and rewarding in equal measure while providing high levels of autonomy during an incredibly exciting phase of growth. We are in the lucky position of having a pretty cutting edge code base with no large legacy systems or dependencies to hold you back.
As an early-stage business, your work will include many opportunities to be part of conversations about more than just technology – including design, data science and product strategy – but the core of your role will involve:

• Design, build, operate, and maintain critical systems, owning reliability, performance, and availability that support our evergoing community of engaged art lovers.
• You will be focused on delivering new features and functionality that will continue to enhance our customer experience, while improving the overall efficiency and effectiveness of our core systems.
• Work with your team to rapidly test ideas on users, use results for iterations and improve our product.
• Take technical responsibility for key areas of development, where you will influence decisions around tooling, architecture and Agile processes.

OUR PRODUCT & ENGINEERING PILLARS

Marketplace: Serves the organization by delivering an outstanding experience for our collectors online, allowing them to discover new artists and their work via rich content, and purchase art through a secure and optimized channel.

Initiatives: Serves the organization by leading discoveries, rapid prototyping and testing new ideas and revenue streams including NFTs, while leveraging and working with all components, services and teams in the business.

Core Platform: Serves the organization by planning, designing and managing our cloud platform and services for reliability and scale, with a strong focus on enabling our engineers to deliver value to production quickly, reliably and safely.

ABOUT YOU

Technical skills:

• 2+ years of experience writing code in Go.
• Very good understanding of software development using Cloud services (e.g. GCP, AWS, Azure) including managed services (e.g. database, messaging).
• You are proficient in SQL, preferably have experience with PostgreSQL or MySQL databases. Experience with NoSQL databases is a definite plus.

Ownership: You demonstrate a high level of ownership for your work and the topic, initiative or area it relates to. You are the resident expert on your piece of the project, and on all pieces your code interacts with. You act as a resource for advice and information, and you continually expand your knowledge of the entire project.

Customer-focused: You have a passion for building intuitive and scalable products that enhance our business capabilities and drill down to what works best for our customers, and also care deeply about quality of service for our online customers.

Up to code: You have experience in software development, you write clean, lean, effective and version controlled code. You pick the right tool for the job and are not limited to a single paradigm or language.
Pragmatic: You and your team take on complex multi-domain problems, analyze, design, build modular solutions, and deliver end-to-end in an MVP, value-first and iterative approach.
You think big: A small application has room to grow. You have ideas on how to distribute a system so that it can work at scale.
A team player: You guide and help your teammates with planning and delivering high-quality software and also take on communication across teams.
